Global Connectivity

Choose a coverage band, data tier, and number option.

Global Connectivity is the mobile network service inside Onyx.

You use it to:

  • purchase recurring mobile data plans
  • activate service through eSIM
  • manage service across supported regions
  • add a number where voice and SMS are available
  • monitor usage and renewals from the app

All plans are managed from the same Onyx account used for activation and support.

How Global Connectivity Works

Every plan is built from three parts:

  • a coverage region
  • a recurring data allowance
  • optional number service

After checkout, the account creates the subscription, prepares the eSIM, and guides activation on your device.

Once active, the app manages:

  • service state
  • usage reporting
  • renewal status
  • number service
  • support and recovery

Coverage Regions

Onyx currently groups service into five coverage regions.

North America United States and Canada.

Europe Selected European countries.

APAC Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, and New Zealand.

MENA United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, and Morocco.

Global A combined plan that includes supported countries across the regional groups.

Selecting a region updates:

  • supported countries
  • available data tiers
  • number support
  • supported voice and SMS bundles
  • monthly pricing
  • renewal terms

Coverage lists can change over time based on:

  • carrier agreements
  • regional support
  • regulatory changes
  • roaming availability

Not every region supports the same services.

Some regions support:

  • data only
  • voice and SMS
  • local numbers
  • different data allowances
  • different renewal structures

Choosing A Data Plan

After selecting a region, choose a recurring data plan.

Current plans can include:

  • 5GB
  • 15GB
  • 30GB
  • Unlimited
  • Max

Available plans vary by region.

Regional plans use 5GB, 15GB, and Unlimited. Global plans use 5GB, 15GB, 30GB, and Max.

The app shows:

  • included data allowance
  • monthly price
  • renewal cadence
  • supported countries
  • overage or depletion behavior where applicable

Before checkout, choose a plan based on actual usage expectations.

Lower tiers work well for:

  • messaging
  • browsing
  • maps
  • light travel use

Higher tiers are better for:

  • hotspot use
  • remote work
  • video calls
  • uploads
  • extended travel
  • multi-device tethering

If usage exceeds the included allowance, service may:

  • slow down
  • pause
  • require renewal
  • require a top-up depending on the plan

Adding A Number

You can keep the plan data-only or add an Onyx number where supported.

If your region supports number service, the app also shows available voice and SMS bundles.

Current bundles include:

  • Core
  • Plus
  • Unlimited

Adding a number can enable:

  • inbound calls
  • outbound calls
  • SMS messaging
  • account verification
  • recovery flows
  • long-term contact across regions

Number availability depends on:

  • region
  • local telecom regulation
  • carrier support
  • verification state
  • supported plan type

Some regions support data service without:

  • local numbers
  • voice calling
  • SMS messaging

Voice and SMS support are not guaranteed in every supported data market.

Before Checkout

Before purchasing a plan, review:

  • supported countries
  • included data allowance
  • monthly pricing
  • renewal terms
  • number availability
  • supported voice and SMS features
  • device compatibility

Your device must:

  • support eSIM
  • support compatible network bands
  • be unlocked where required

Some carriers block eSIM activation on locked devices.

Activation may fail if:

  • the device is incompatible
  • required bands are unsupported
  • the phone is carrier locked
  • roaming settings are disabled
  • another SIM configuration conflicts with setup

Install the eSIM before travel when possible.

Checkout And Subscription Creation

Checkout creates the recurring subscription for the selected plan.

Depending on account state, checkout can appear as:

  • draft
  • processing
  • payment pending
  • payment verified
  • successful
  • failed
  • expired

Payment methods and wallet support can vary by:

  • region
  • payment rail availability
  • account verification
  • supported currencies

If payment fails, the app may ask you to:

  • retry payment
  • reconnect a wallet
  • verify account information
  • select another payment method

A successful checkout does not always mean service is immediately active. Activation still depends on eSIM delivery and installation.

eSIM Provisioning And Activation

After checkout, the account moves into provisioning.

The app prepares the eSIM and delivers activation instructions for the device.

Depending on your phone, activation may require:

  • scanning a QR code
  • opening cellular settings
  • confirming installation
  • enabling roaming
  • restarting the device
  • selecting the Onyx line for data

Your eSIM can appear as:

  • not ready
  • ready to install
  • installing
  • active
  • suspended
  • expired
  • failed
  • unavailable
  • needs attention

Activation may take several minutes after installation before service becomes available on the network.

Activation can fail if:

  • Wi-Fi disconnects during setup
  • installation is interrupted
  • roaming remains disabled
  • the device is unsupported
  • another carrier profile conflicts with activation
  • local network registration is delayed

Do not delete the eSIM unless instructed by support.

Using The Network

After activation, the app becomes the control center for the service.

From the account, you can:

  • monitor usage
  • review renewals
  • manage numbers
  • review activation status
  • troubleshoot connectivity
  • contact support

Usage reporting can appear as:

  • current
  • delayed
  • unavailable
  • depleted

Depending on local carrier synchronization, usage updates may not appear in real time.

Renewals And Expiration

Recurring plans renew automatically until canceled.

Renewal behavior depends on:

  • payment state
  • wallet availability
  • account verification
  • supported payment methods
  • regional support

Your account may show:

  • renewal scheduled
  • renewal failed
  • payment required
  • service expired
  • usage depleted
  • renewal pending

If renewal fails:

  • service may pause
  • data speeds may change
  • number service may suspend
  • the plan may expire

Some regions can apply additional renewal restrictions based on local carrier rules.

Coverage And Network Conditions

Coverage quality can vary based on:

  • local carrier conditions
  • indoor coverage
  • geography
  • network congestion
  • device hardware
  • network priority
  • roaming conditions
  • cellular settings

Supported coverage does not guarantee identical performance in every country or location.

Signal quality may change between:

  • cities
  • rural areas
  • airports
  • transit routes
  • underground locations
  • buildings with restricted signal access

Data coverage does not automatically include:

  • voice support
  • SMS support
  • local number service
  • identical carrier priority across regions

Support And Recovery

If service stops working, start from the app before removing the eSIM.

Support may guide you to:

  • review device compatibility
  • confirm roaming settings
  • reinstall the eSIM
  • recover number service
  • verify account access
  • renew the plan
  • troubleshoot network registration

Deleting the eSIM can interrupt recovery or require reactivation.

If you change devices, recovery steps can vary depending on:

  • region
  • carrier policy
  • number state
  • active subscription state
